Daniel Negreanu
One of the most famous poker players on the PokerStars pro list is Daniel Negreanu. At the age of 21 Daniel set off on his poker adventure in Las Vegas. He originally planned to play professional pool, but all that changed and he started playing illegal poker games in Canada. His natural instincts at the game helped push him to become the poker player that he is today and an icon in the poker industry.Negreanu was born July 26, 1974 in Ontario, Canada. At the age of only 16, Negreanu began hustling his way around the pool halls playing pool and cards, doing everything he could to build up his bankroll. Soon after this he geared up and headed to Vegas. The city lights soon got to him and he was forced to move back home and rebuild again. A good Daniel Negreanu tip would be to not bust your bankroll like he did.
Daniel played cards very well, but never made any big time wins until 1998 when he won a World Series of Poker bracelet in Pot Limit Hold’em becoming the youngest bracelet winner at the age of 23. This feat helped spawn the nickname the “Poker Kid”. Over all Daniel has won over $11,000,000 playing poker.
Daniel Negreanu and the World Series of Poker
Daniel is a 4 time bracelet winner at the World Series of Poker. In 1998 he won his first bracelet in the Pot Limit Hold’em event, crowning him the youngest bracelet holder ever at the time. He held this record until 2004 when Phil Hellmuth took his spot.
Daniel has also won a bracelet in 2003 in S.H.O.E. and two more at Limit Hold’em in 2004 and 2008. Daniel has made quite a name for himself amongst the other poker greats that he has been seated next to. Kid Poker is a phenomenal player and was crowned the World Series of Poker player of the year in 2004.
Daniel Negreanu and the World Poker Tour
Daniel has done outstanding in the World Poker Tour just like he did in the WSOP winning two titles in the World Poker Tour. In 2005 Negreanu was crowned the World Poker Tour player of the year, making it two years in a row that he took a player of the year position. Both of these wins came to him in his best year of poker ever, 2004. Daniel won the Borgata Poker Open and the Five Diamond World Poker Classic main event.

When first becoming successful, Daniel made his own online poker room named Full Contact Poker. Daniel marketed by having his own blog and set of poker forums up on the site while playing there as well. The site fell apart and lost its player base relatively soon and is now just a site for blogs and forums. There is now a Daniel Negreanu video blog where you can keep up to date with his latest news and updates. There is also a Daniel Negreanu twitter.
In June of 2007 Negreanu signed a contract with PokerStars to become one of their poker pros. You can see Daniel play on some of the highest stakes tables at PokerStars No Limit Hold’em and Limit Hold’em tables. He is successful online, but made most of his money in live events.

Daniel was once married to Lori Weber in 2005. They later split up in 2007. Daniel currently has no spouse nor does he show signs of settling down.

He has written over 100 articles for CardPlayer Magazine. Negreanu has also contributed tons of material to Doyle Brunson’s book Super System II. He has tutored many celebrities and is an excellent instructor of the game.
Daniel Negreanu is a vegan and has been since 2003. He is also a huge fan of hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is often seen sporting a jersey of his favorite team while he plays.
